Reds waiting on Johnson injury
Liverpool are waiting to discover the extent of the injury sustained by Glen Johnson during last night's thrilling 1-0 victory at Aston Villa.

The Reds' defender limped out of the action in the closing stages after falling awkwardly in a challenge on the Villa Park pitch.

"We don't know, we have to do a scan - maybe he has a problem with his
knee," said manager Rafael Benitez after the game.

Ouaip c'est chiant cette blessure... On a enfin un onze type et on commence gentiment à remonter la pente et bam nouvelle blessure. Espérons que ça soit pas trop et qu'il nous revienne en pleine forme!

Rafa va devoir décaler Carra mais il pourrait aussi essayer de titulariser Skrtel à droite comme lorsqu'il le fait entrer en cours de match. Degen pas assez bon, Darby trop tendre, quid de Kelly qui avait fait un très bon match contre Lyon?

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson ruled out until March
Liverpool have suffered an injury setback with news that Glen Johnson is expected to be out of action until March.

The right-back has undergone surgery to repair a medial ligament tear in his right knee that he suffered in the 1-0 victory away to Aston Villa
at the end of last month.

Immediately after the injury there were fears that Johnson had suffered serious damage, but these were allayed by Liverpool, after a scan, with the prediction that he would be out for only a month. However, that diagnosis has now proved to have
been optimistic.

As well as Liverpool's busy programme of forthcoming games, Johnson will now miss England's friendly against Egypt at Wembley on March 3, though the national side's manager, Fabio Capello, is relaxed about the 25 year-old's fitness.

Johnson also missed England's last match, the friendly against Brazil in Qatar, through injury, but he remains an important part of Capello's plans for
the World Cup in South Africa. England are understood to be close to agreeing to play a friendly against Mexico in May, but there is a dispute with Fifa over possible dates.

Capello is privately relieved that Johnson is resting at a key part of the season and he expects him to be fully fit come the end of the campaign.

That is little comfort to Liverpool or their manager, Rafael Benítez, who is juggling a tight transfer budget as he tries to reshape his squad for a
push to qualify for next season's Champions League.

As well as the rest of this month's fixtures, Johnson is now likely to miss key games at home to Everton on Feb 6, away to Arsenal four days later and away to Manchester City on Feb 21.

Johnson's injury will make no difference to Liverpool's plans to sell Andrea Dossena to Napoli for about £4.5 million, although it is believed that the deal has been held up because of the bad weather. Dossena, 28, was due to arrive in Naples.

In Johnson's absence, and with Martin Kelly also injured, Liverpool have turned to Stephen Darby, 21, who featured in the FA Cup tie at Reading.
Benítez may also hold on to Philipp Degen a little longer, even though the experienced Swiss international has been as much a flop as Dossena.
It is unlikely that Benítez will have the funds to recruit another right-back.

Liverpool also hope to offload striker Andriy Voronin soon – for £1.5 million to Dinamo Moscow – but, as with Dossena, the deal has been delayed by snow preventing the Ukrainian taking a flight.

Meanwhile Liverpool have rejected an offer of £8 million from Birmingham City for Ryan Babel, who is keen to leave Anfield to revive his career and gain a place in Holland's World Cup squad. Liverpool, who want to recoup more of the £11.5 million they spent on Babel, are close to tying up a deal to sign the Argentine international, Maxi Rodriguez, from Atlético Madrid.

"If you had Kelly and Johnson on the right, Dirk Kuyt could slot in behind Fernando Torres and have Joe Cole on the left with Steven Gerrard and Raul Meireles in the middle - a winning combination?"

Voté pour aussi! Pareil! Faut qu'on change ce système là! Kuyt derrière Torres et on joue en 4-4-2 ou N'Gog avec Torres devant, Johnson ailier droit, Joe Cole ailier gauche, Kelly ou Darby arrière droit! Et si on y réfléchis bien Darby est le meilleur arrière "fullback" (même si il joue plus et beaucoup mieux en arrière droit que arrière gauche et défenseur central) de Liverpool FC, c'est un peu notre Stephen "Finnan" Darby, et avec un côté Carragher pour sa polyvalence et régularité. Meilleur que Kelly qui est un défenseur central de formation, et meilleur à ce poste là d'ailleurs, et meilleur que Johnson qui est super offensif et assez moyen (voir mauvais) défensivement!

Qu'en pensez vous de Darby?

Qu'en pensez vous de Darby?

Il a pas l'air dans la meilleur position l'ami Darby, on l'a que très peu vu (voir pas vu du tout) en équipe première récemment, Roy lui préférant même Kelly pourtant non spécialiste du poste, l'idée est à creusé de faire joué Glen plus haut, ça marche très bien pour Bale à Tottenham par exemple, mais même si cette idée semble bonne, il faut que le mec qui se retrouve arrière droit soit un tueur et là on cale, peut-on faire toute une saison avec Kelly ou Darby en arrière droit ? Roy lui aussi pense-t-il que Glen dois joué milieu droit ? ça rajoute encore plus de question qu'on s'en pose déjà, mais j'y avais aussi pensé l'an passé, pourquoi pas, à testé, car Meireles milieu droit, c'est du gachi ...

Parce que je me rappel que pour Insua une bonne partie était pour qu'il joue plus souvent lors de l'année où on avait terminé deuxième. On l'a mit titulaire trop vite et on a vu le résultat. Je préfère qu'on fasse rentrer petit à petit les jeunes ( jouer des matches de Europa League et rentrer quand on gagne nos matches.)
